Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

• In writing - drop your repeat slip into reception, or post it, with the required items clearly marked. If you enclose a stamped addressed envelope we'll post it back to you..
• Online - follow the link at the top of this page. Your online user details and guide are available from the surgery.

Chemist Collection Service

We have the facility to send your prescriptions electronically to any chemist you nominate, you just need to order your prescription as normal with the surgery and go to your nominated chemist 2 working days later to collect your medication, ask your usual chemist about this service.

Many chemists will collect prescriptions from the surgery and deliver your medication to your home. You can contact your local chemist to discuss this arrangement.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be reviewed by the surgery pharmacist at least once a year, this review does not always mean you will need an appointment as patients are seen at their annual review with the nurse or doctor for a face to face consultation. 

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.65
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
• 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

The surgery introduced electronic prescribing from the first week in October. This will mean once you have ordered your prescription it can be sent electronically to your chemist of choice providing you have nominated them before you request the prescription, this means you will no longer need to come to the surgery to collect a prescription.

In early December 2019 we will be taking the next step in electronic prescribing, this will mean if a patient hasn't a nominated pharmacy then instead of issuing a green prescription we will be generating a "token" that displays patient details which patients can had over to any pharmacy of choice and the pharmacy will pull down the prescription from the spine. This will hopefully end the need to re-print prescriptions when lost.

Patients can order there prescriptions via our clinical system, for this each patient will need login details which can be issued at the surgery by our reception staff.
